The Big CGC Hackathon
20-24 April in Brussels

The work we did in Princeton has set us up for another major CGC get-together, to actually write a full set of Learning Modules that reflect our Princeton thinking. That event, The Big CGC Hackathon, will take place in Brussels, from 20-24 April 2020.

Summer Summit 2020
26-28 June in Princeton

In the Summer of 2020 we will return to the outstanding location of the Nassau Inn, Princeton to tackle another of the difficult dilemmas of learning design, delivery and demonstration: The Self-Regulating Learner. The literature in the learning business is loaded with references to learning how to learn, developing independent learners, personalising learning and the like. Yet we know of no coherent model for building the capacity of learners to regulate their own learning, consistently, systemically, Pre-K through 12. Our own Learning Principle, Learning Ownership, commits us to designing such a model. This will be our focus in June 2020. It will include a major emphasis on Demonstrating learning, with the learner at the heart of systems of assessing, recording and reporting for and as learning.

Early Learning in the CGC
Spring 2021 in Europe

We are now very experienced in working with schools in all regions of the world. Obviously, we have a keen interest in all stages of a learner’s development, including the Early Years, so critical for the development of conceptual, competency and character learning. While there are great individual early learning centres in many schools, and wonderful models such as the Reggio Emilia schools, we are also seeing national movements towards pushing "academic" approaches into early childhood, at the expense of experiential learning through purposeful play.

In response, and in order to capture and share the very best of inquiry-based, experiential early learning, we have set out on the journey towards developing an exemplary model, Early Learning in CGC. We have an evolving "draft" of this model, a number of interested schools, and are even in the early stages of planning our first Early Learning two-day Professional Conversation, in the Spring of 2021.
